How to choose condom sizes?

How to choose condom sizes?

Most condoms fit the average sized penis, so if your penis is slightly larger than 5 inches when erect, you could comfortably wear a “snug” condom. But don't go in for just any condom! Although length is often the same across different brands and types, width and girth are the most important aspects when selecting a perfect condom for you.

Using the right condom size is extremely important for comfort, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and for effective birth control. Therefore, wearing a condom that is too big may cause it to slip off. Also, wearing one that is too small may apparently result in the breakage of the condom. When you are planning to buy condoms, you should primarily dedicate an ample amount of time in finding the best options to have a correct fit!

Taking Your Measurements:

Taking Your Measurements:

Condom sizes are always determined by the width and length of the penis. Your condom size should always be based on the size of your erect penis. To know your size, you need to measure your penis at a time when it is erect:

• For accurate measurement of the penis length, hold one side of a ruler or tape and measure on your pubic bone until the tip of your penis.
• For width or girth, use a soft measuring tape and gently wrap it around the thickest part of your erect penis. Now measure the length of the string or tape measure.

Once you have the measurement, you can use a condom size chart that details the list of the sizes of the different brands (they are not universal) to choose a condom which matches your erect penis size.

Condom Sizes in India

Understanding the size of condoms may be a little challenging because different condom manufacturers use slightly different measurements and terms to describe a standard size. Just as is often the case with clothing, one brand might categorize a condom as a large size, while another would classify a condom of the same measurements as standard size. Therefore, condom width should be always used when comparing condom sizes. Your penis girth will directly affect how a condom fits and stays on.

In India, almost all the condoms sizes have a standard dimension of 180 mm in length and 53mm width (±2mm elasticity). However, there are condoms which have smaller dimensions. They are called as small size condoms and are 170 mm in length and 49 mm in width (±2mm of elasticity). Moreover, they are anatomically shaped to make the fit better along the girth of the male genitalia.

You can use this general guide as a reference for condom sizes:-

1. Small size condoms

Length: 6 to 7 inches

Width: 1.7 to 2 inches

As only a few condom brands have listed small size condoms, the options available are very less in India. There are only three small size condoms available in India. Those are KamaSutra Skyn Original, KamaSutra Skyn Extra Lube and Kohinoor Pink condoms.

2. Regular size condoms

Length: 7 to 7.9 inches

Width: 2.05 to 2.13 inches

Most of them are average or regular size condoms, which are well lubricated and can stretch or roll on the penis quite easily to fit in just perfectly.

3. Large condoms

Length: Under 8 inches

Width : 2.13 to 2.3 inches

There are also larger size condoms available which are just slightly larger than the standard sized condoms.

4. Extra Large condoms

Length: 8 inches and up

Width: 2.3 inches and up

These condoms should be your choice if you’re above the average size.

Considerations:-

Once you find the condom that comes in sizes closest to your measurements, you may need to purchase a few so that you can try them on. This will give you a chance to know which options are available for you with the best mix of fit, comfort, and sensitivity.

Besides size, there are also a few other condom features that you might want to consider:

Material:-

Condom materials generally include latex, polyurethane, polyisoprene, and lambskin. It may be useful for you to try condoms that are made from different materials so that you can select the one which suits you the best. Also, trying condoms of different materials may bring in new and exciting lovemaking experiences.

Design:-

Condoms are available in a variety of textures and shapes. You may have a preference for one or more of these!

Built-in lubrication:-

Many condom brands, such as Kohinoor, Kamasutra and Skore always come with effective lubrication. These materials heighten sensitivity and pleasure for either partner.

Adding lubrication to your condom improves the sensation and comfort for your partner. You can use lubricants like Moods Lubes and K-Y Jelly, and apply them to your condom. Silicone-based lubricants usually stay slippery for a much longer period of time than other options.

If you are using a latex condom, keep in mind to exclusively use water- or silicone-based products, as oil-based lubricants can degrade the latex. Also be careful not to use too much lubricant, as this can cause the condom to slip off.

What are snug fit condoms?

Normally condoms are designed in a straight wall shape, with a teat end, in the shape of a cylinder. But, snug fit condoms are made with a different design. Through research, it was found that the condoms which are anatomically shaped – with a big head – are known to be more comfortable than the straight walled condoms. These anatomically shaped condoms, also known as flared condoms, are the snug fit condoms offering better grip, better fit and hence the best level of comfort. That is why, people who look for a higher level of comfort, always go for the snug fit condoms that provide security to those who need a tighter fitting condom.
