Irregular periods - how do you overcome it?

 

What are irregular periods? 

Most women had faced irregular periods complication after puberty and before menopause and it is mainly due to an imbalance of hormones. A woman's normal menstrual cycle usually occurs every 28 days on average, but if your periods arrive less than 21 days or more than 35 days, it clearly indicates that you suffered from abnormal menstruation. Other symptoms of irregular periods are Menstrual flow being heavier or lighter than usual, Suffering cramping, nausea or vomiting along with periods, bleeding that extends more than seven or eight days.

 

What causes irregular periods?

 

Contraceptives:

Intake of Birth control pills may affect the menstrual cycle or spotting between periods.

 

Stress: Anxiety and stress plays a vital role and have an impact in their menstrual cycles.

 

Thyroid disorders:

Women, who have suffered from thyroid such as hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, may experience irregular periods.

 

Weight:

 

Excessive weight gain or loss plays one of the crucial factors for irregular periods.

 

Polycystic ovary syndrome:

 

This problematic condition occurs when small cysts develop in the ovaries and it causes lighter periods or no periods at all.

Menopause:

 

Menopause usually occurs after 45.It makes their body to alter the hormones.

The treatment varies and it depends upon the cause.

Regulating menstrual flow:

Hormones such as oestrogen or progestin might be prescribed to control Heavy flow.

Control cramps:

 

Cramps or pain can be controlled by taking pain reliever such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen.

 

Endometriosis:

 

It is a tissue that is lined inside the uterus and it can cause painful periods and can even lead to infertility. Pain relievers may help to lessen the discomfort. For severe cases, surgery may be needed to remove excess tissues that grow around the pelvic region or abdomen.

 

How could it be reduced?

 

Doing yoga and meditation can help to reduce the stress and jitters, because relaxation might develop regular cycle. Exercise should be done moderately and it is suggested to avoid fatty foods. Change your tampons or pads every four or five hours to avoid from toxic shock syndrome and infections.
